“Midnight” is a project that is very near and dear to me. This was a script written for one of my screenwriting courses at Columbia and was selected as the overall favorite at the end of the semester. Originally, the plan was to produce it through Columbia’s Independent Project program, which was designed to give students the resources and tools to make a film, while allowing them to maintain creative control. The script was not selected, unfortunately, which left us disappointed, but not defeated. We decided this was a great opportunity to really dive into the realm of indie filmmaking and was our first completely independent project outside of school. It taught us valuable lessons about funding, time management, accountability, and independence. I’m very proud of the final result, this is the film that definitely taught me the most in the early years of my career.
